Day 1 (Feb. 13) Kuala Muda DHO

~ Pejabat Kesihatan Daerah Kuala Muda ~

Hello, Sunshine! This is the kickstart of our very own blog for Kuala Muda District Health Office posting today,my friends out there...

We all reached Pejabat Kesihatan Daerah Kuala Muda at 8am on time. Yes, we were back here again -- a place we've known it so well as Klinik Kesihatan Bandar Sungai Petani (Sungai Petani Health Clinic) since our Paediatric posting. Lucky us, right? For we don't have to travel to some unfamiliar faraway lands... :) But this is not entirely about the journey..but the distance we'd travel together as a team and how much effort we are willing to put in and share our experience and knowledge on our way up. We'd always cherish the time we'd spend together as one group for the years to come.

~Dewan Kekwa (Chrysanthemum Hall)~

All of us were invited shortly into the Dewan Kekwa located at the Nursing Hostel (Don't get it wrong here,ok?). We spent most of our time inside a seminar room.

Mr. Chong, the Penolong Ketua Pegawai Perubatan, has briefed us on the overview of the Organization Chart and Primary Health Care.

During that session, we learnt the initiatives taken by our government and budgets incurred for healthcare sectors. We had our schedule and some powerpoints given by Mr. Chong.-- Let us share with you all the Powerpoint files later!!!

Next session by Matron Shadah was an overview of maternal and child health. Some important data were obtained for this district. Don't worry, we have saved you the powerpoint hard copy : >

After our lunch break, we were enlightened by Mr. David (has replaced Mr. Hj Bakri) who gave us a thorough account on what his Inspectorate unit does. It was a 3- hour talk, too bad, huh? But he mainly talked on Law and Enforcement and also on Laws pertaining to Tobacco handling, sales, possession, and prohibited areas. For more information, he asked us to browse 2 websites:
www.moh.gov.my  &  www.cdc.gov.my

Well, you know the 27  notifiable diseases, right? Have you wondered what will happen if you fail to notify? According to him, you shall be fined RM3000 (not so much for him, it seems...but we have to promise ourselves that we won't make that mistake, right?).

~ Mr. David with us for 3 hours ~
Tomorrow we will have one whole day with Mr. David again... and by the way, we are looking forward to a field trip to somewhere tomorrow. Hopefully everything goes well.

We called it a day at around 5.30pm -- a truly wonderful time for us here in Sungai Petani. Hope you all have a great day too!

Happy Valentine's day to all of you, too!
