ALTERNATIVES FOR WATER SUPPLY
During the talk we have learned that, when the villages does not get proper pipe lines, BAKAS tries to find alternatives to provide proper water supply that is safe.
The alternatives are:
a) Water well system with hand pump
b) Gravity system feat
This system is done when water well system and water pipe system is not possible. In this system, water is taken from the stream that is running from the hill and supplied to the people.
c) Rain water collection system ("Sistem tadahan air hujan")
Rain water that hits the roof of the house is directed through a pipe and stored in a pond(catchman area)
SANITARY LATRINE SYSTEM
We understood that in the rural area there in no flushing system. The system that they use is "tandas curah"(pour water). In this system a pipe line is made from the toilet bowl to the ring kok.

SULLAGE DISPOSAL SYSTEM
In this system, water from the sink is directed through a pipe to a ring kok. This is to make sure that the water is not simply drained to the ground where it is exposed to the flies or rodents. The hygiene of the place is sustained by this system.

SOLID WASTE DISPOSAL SYSTEM
In the village, ring kok is provided in order for the people to throw rubbish. Once the ring kok is full, the rubbish is burnt.
